Is ‘Hard Work’ The Right Formula To Being A Successful Entrepreneur?
About 17 years ago, I know a person close to me who had an online business where he sells good quality linens all over the world. I always admire his wit, integrity and his ability as a one-man business to connect with many consumers from different countries. During the early 2000s, he was able to utilize the eBay platform in which during that time, was the go-to by many consumers when buying products online.
He was ranked gold on eBay and was able to establish a reputation. In 2006, Amazon paves the way to businesses to use their platform for order fulfillment in which he took advantage. In a period of time, he gained good reviews and his ratings went up to 90%. He was also able to set foot in the largest e-commerce industry in Asia.
I witnessed his business grow even when digital technology progresses. Then in recent years, I’ve observed entrepreneurs or business owners of the same nature, are rising from different places maybe seeing the vast opportunities available being one with the digital revolution. Many of them went to explore the opportunities in digital marketing and some became successful. From being the top of his game, he became one with the game.
He is no longer at the top, he is just one with them. How is it an established business who used to be the head, now sits at the tail? His products were better than his competitors by a mile, he has strong affiliates and he is a hard worker. He probably has worked harder than any of his competitors. What could possibly go wrong?
The answer lies at the beginning. He is a one-man business. He tries to accomplish everything all by himself. He spent his time and effort in managing his business instead of building it.
It’s great to be the jack of all trades, but it’s the result that matters no matter how hard you’ve worked for it. There is a famous line in shark tank where Kevin O’Leary is known for, “It’s a hobby, not a business.” What he doesn’t realize is he can hire high-skilled workers and just focus on what’s important, meeting his goals and targets.
To many entrepreneurs, or to those who were just starting their business, manpower is always the least option. Many had the impression that high-skilled workers are expensive. The trick is to hire a high-skilled worker from a remote location, which is commonly known as a virtual assistant.
Hiring a virtual assistant will help you see the business needs on a higher perspective. It will improve business productivity and it will add flexibility. You can hire a cost-effective, multi-skilled virtual assistant depending on which region you’re trying to outsource. You can hire someone to do administrative work or personal task, content creation, manage finances, social media management, email management, customer service, and the list goes on.
When my friend decided to hire virtual assistants, immediately he saw where the business is lacking and was able to remedy and repair it. He delegated different task to each remote workers and started to see the business from a different spectrum. He saw how his business is performing and improves what is needed to be improved. From then on, he started receiving more traffic and his sales went up to 15% each and every month.
You may be the hardest worker, but the strategic worker always win. The formula to be successful is very simple, work hard but work smarter. You can hire a remote worker under $10 per hour on Virtual Premier Ally or you can hire freelancers on Upwork by posting a listing.
What do you think about the story? Do you agree that the most strategic way for entrepreneurs is to hire remote workers? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
